If you've been following me online for a while, you might know that I've gone through a few personal websites in my time. This is actually my fourth iteration, and with any luck, it will be my last. I mean, I'm pretty sure my debit card has a grudge against me because it always seems to expire right before the annual domain name renewal date. But anyway, enough about that. I'm thrilled to introduce you to my latest and greatest personal website, and can't wait to show you what I've been working on.
Let's look at the time line of my builds, shall we
Iteration #1 (2016)
Luckily I have no screenshot or video of my first website. If you were to see it, your eyes would burn. As it was my first website ever, it was writtten in raw HTML and CSS (Didn't learn about JS yet). It was very blocky with little styling. Image a website from the early 2000's but with only a few paragraphs worth of content...
Iteration #2 (2018)
Iteration #3 (2020)
After running my last personal website for a while, I realized that the time and effort I was putting into maintaining its custom design and layout was taking away from my main goal: sharing my thoughts and ideas with others. That's why I decided to switch to using a website builder for my new site. This is actually the first time I've used a website builder, but I'm finding it to be a great solution for my needs. The builder provides a level of customization that still allows me to make my site unique. Previously, I had used my personal website to showcase my frontend building skills, but now I have other projects and professional experience that demonstrate my abilities in that area. With the website builder, I can focus on creating content and engaging with my audience, which is what's most important to me.
Questions that may be asked:
"What about the previous blog posts?" My large collection of 4 posts will be migrated to this site for people to ignore.
"What are you using to type and build this?" I am actually using Wix. This was the fastest onboarding, out of all website builders for me.
Thanks y'all for reading!
